Nor1 Reveals the Value of Intelligent Merchandising
During HITEC, travel merchandising company Nor1 revealed that since 2007 its hotel partners have presented 155 million guests with offers – resulting in a cool $210 million in actual revenue for Nor1 customers. Twenty-nine million of those offers were relevant enough that guests clicked on them, resulting in a 20 percent click-through rate, with nearly half of those resulting in a guest accepting an offer.

Beacon Technology Licensed for Firmware Integration in Bluetooth® Smart -Enabled Devices
Gimbal, Inc., a leader in location and proximity-based mobile engagement, announced the availability of its beacon firmware to enable virtually any Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) device to act as a Gimbal beacon. Adding beacon technology to devices will enable retailers, hotels, venues, advertisers and out-of-home (OOH) networks to reach mobile app users as well as monetize their beacon networks by securely sharing access to these beacons with partners, sponsors or digital ad networks.

Uniguest and Google Announce Partnership to Deploy Google Chrome Devices; Joseph P. Morgan, Jr. Named as CEO
Uniguest announced that it will offer Google’s Chrome technology solutions to hotels across the globe. According to the release, Uniguest will install, set up and manage the technology devices powered by Google Chrome OS.
Uniguest also announced the appointment of Joseph P. Morgan, Jr. as chief executive officer, effective July 6, 2015. Morgan served as president and chief executive officer of The Standard Register Company, a publicly traded company with revenues approaching $1 billion, since January 2009. Morgan previously served as president at eflatbed.com, president and chairman of Sony Chemical Corporation of America, and held executive positions at FLEXcon.

Hospitality Startup Whistle Wins First Place in the Entrepreneur 20x Competition at HITEC
The first-ever Entrepreneur 20x pitch competition at HFTP's HITEC was won by Whistle, a company that connects customers and businesses via popular mobile messaging apps and SMS. The service aggregates customer communications into minimalistic Web and mobile admin panels. Whistle allows hotels to respond or triage incoming messages via a real-time chat.
