Kerry Hirschy to Retire from dormakaba After a Successful 31-Year Career
dormakaba, a top company in the global market for access and security solutions, announced its Vice President of Sales Kerry Hirschy retired on Dec. 31, 2017. Hirschy completed a stellar 31-year career in the electronic door lock industry. His leadership as a hotel lock sales executive resulted in dormakaba’s strong market share position in North America. Hirschy’s successor will be Dale Mathias. dormakaba manufactures the Saflok™ and Ilco™ electronic door locks and provides installation and service for its systems.

Implementations Director Rafael Lozada Joins ALICE to Help Lead Next Stage of Company Growth
ALICE, one of the hospitality industry’s leading operations technologies, welcomed Rafael Lozada, as director of customer implementations. Lozada joins ALICE at a time of rapid growth for the company, following its $26M Series B funding in August, and the company’s acquisition of concierge technology rival GoConcierge in September.

BENCHMARK, a global hospitality company, has named Jay Rocha vice president of operations. Rocha was previously general manager of Cheyenne Mountain Resort, located in Colorado Springs, Colo. Prior to this he held senior leadership and general manager positions at properties in destinations throughout the United States, including Orlando, Fla.; Richardson, Texas; and Denver, Colo., among others.

Dream Hotel Group Appoints Ariel Freeman Sanett as Vice President of Development
Dream Hotel Group has named Ariel Freeman Sanett as its vice president of development. In this role, Sanett will be responsible for developing Dream Hotel Group’s portfolio of brands – Dream Hotels, Time Hotels, The Chatwal and Unscripted Hotels – leveraging her extensive relationships in the United States and abroad.

Extended Stay America’s CFO Jonathan Halkyard Promoted to Succeed Gerry Lopez as CEO
The boards of directors of Extended Stay America, Inc., and its paired-share REIT, ESH Hospitality, Inc., announced that they have appointed Jonathan S. Halkyard to serve as the next president and chief executive officer of both companies, effective January 1, 2018. Concurrently with the appointment of Mr. Halkyard, the company’s current president and CEO, Gerry Lopez, will transition to the role of senior advisor until March 18, 2018.

Elizabeth Norberg has been named chief human resources officer, executive vice president for Loews Hotels & Co. Hospitality executive Mikael Svensson has joined hospitality management and building solutions company Louis T Collection as senior vice president. Svensson will oversee operations of the group’s current hotel portfolio and work closely with its technical services team on new projects.

Montage International Appoints Vice President, Acquisitions and Development
Montage International has announced the appointment of Vai Cahoon to the position of vice president, acquisitions and development. In this role, Cahoon will support the acquisitions and development team in the continued growth of Montage International - including both the Montage Hotels & Resorts and Pendry Hotels brands.

RLJ Lodging Trust Names Ryan Meliker Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Investor Relations
RLJ Lodging Trust announced that Ryan Meliker will be joining the company as senior vice president, corporate strategy and investor relations, effective January 17, 2018. Mr. Meliker will report to Leslie D. Hale, the company’s chief operating officer and chief financial officer.

Arash Azarbarzin Appointed President of SH Group
SH Group, the hotel brand management company created and owned by Starwood Capital Group, announced the appointment of Arash Azarbarzin as president, effective immediately. In his new role, Azarbarzin will oversee all operations and expansion for SH Group. SH Group currently operates the fast growing 1 Hotels, a nature-inspired luxury lifestyle brand with locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and South Beach, as well as the five-star luxury Baccarat Hotel brand.

Waterford Hotel Group Appoints Michael Heaton as President
Waterford Hotel Group’s Chairman and CEO Len Wolman announced the appointment of Michael Heaton as president effective January 1, 2018. Heaton will succeed Waterford’s long-serving president, Robert Winchester, who recently announced plans to hand over the reins in preparation for his upcoming retirement. Winchester will continue in his role through year end, assisting with the transition of roles, before assuming a part-time advisory position with Waterford for an indefinite period.

Zaplox Reinforces and Expands Management Team with Newly Appointed Chief Technical Officer and Chief Marketing Officer
Zaplox, a market innovator of mobile key services for the global hotel industry, has strengthened its management team with the appointment of two C-level executives to newly created positions. Hotel technology industry veteran Eric Michélsen has been tapped as chief technical officer (CTO), and Pernilla Brodd has been named chief marketing officer (CMO), with both officially joining the company as of December 2017.
