Pegasus Handles Record Number of Electronic Transactions in 2004

The relentless growth of hotel transactions continued in 2005, with Pegasus handling more than 7 billion transactions – an increase of 58 percent over 2004. These transactions include purchases, exchanges, shopping inquiries and cancellations. Despite the skyrocketing volume, Pegasus’ average availability for the year was 99.97 percent, highlighted by five months of 100 percent availability.

RezView® Transactions Top 2 Billion in 2004
The number of transactions processed by Pegasus’ RezView central reservation system also rose dramatically in 2004. Overall, RezView transactions increased 33 percent in 2004, hitting a high of 186 million in March. The central reservation system handled more than 2 billion transactions for the year.

More than 1,600 Hotels Implement Unirez by Pegasus™ Service in 2004
Independent hotels around the world reacted positively to Pegasus’ decision to add the Unirez by Pegasus service to its menu of hotel representation services in 2004. More than 1,600 hotels implemented the self-service tool kit that delivers instant GDS and Web distribution with a host of reporting and management options. Some prominent properties that signed on include:

  • Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Seminole in Tampa and Hollywood
  • Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center, Grapevine, Texas
  • Park Central Hotel, New York
  • Monte Picayo Hotel Puzol, Valencia, Spain

Utell by Pegasus Member Bookings on the Upswing at Preferred Agencies
On several important consortia booking systems, Utell by Pegasus member hotels enjoy positive biasing and enhanced marketing opportunities as a result of Utell by Pegasus’ preferred supplier status. These consortia include American Express EMEA, BSI, BTI UK, Radius and Carlson Wagonlit.
Year-over-year performance has shown strong growth with all these companies, reinforcing the attraction of this program to independent hotels. Transaction volumes booked by American Express into UI chain code hotels increased by 18 percent in 2004. Bookings at BTI UK skyrocketed by 59 percent last year. Another prominent consortia, Carlson Wagonlit UK, recorded an increase of 13 percent in 2004.
Pegasus’ demand sales team will work closely with its preferred agency partners to provide additional and targeted opportunities for participating hotel members in 2005.

Weekly Commission Processing for Participating Hotels Arrives
Beginning later this quarter, hotels that participate in Pegasus’ commission processing service will have the ability to process commission payments in the frequency of their choice, ranging from weekly to monthly.
