Pegasus Solutions Caught in Bed with Leading Hotels
Everywhere you look these days, Pegasus is grabbing headlines with salacious stories detailing tête-à-têtes with notable and appealing names in hospitality. Readers can’t get enough of the company’s liaisons with hotels, chains, travel management companies, agencies and partners drawn to the Pegasus’ offering of first-class business intelligence, mobile, Web services and online booking solutions.

An anonymous source said the company also appeals to the hospitality masses with a next-generation central reservations system, RezView® NG, that has earned the admiration of IT superstar InfoWorld. Rollout of the product, which broke new ground as one of the first redesigns of the CRS in two decades, shocked the old guard. However, a hungry and enthusiastic hotel public welcomed the product, breaking records in implementations and going platinum in the first 12 months.

While more than 95,000 hotels globally can be linked for distribution to Pegasus, known to some as the “distribution workhorse,” the company also claims a substantial portfolio of more than 9,000 hotels. This exclusive collection, maintained by 80-year-old Utell® Hotels & Resorts, receives red carpet treatment in hotel marketing and representation. Utell counts some of the most desirable hotels in the world among its select membership, including the sexy Soho House and Thompson Smyth in New York City, the green darling Hotel Rafayel in London, the Middle East’s jet-setting Dan Hotels, and three Zen-like Evergreen properties in Asia, not to mention a slew of other properties yet to be named.

Word on the street is that CIO Mark Peacock has also just been named one of the top 100 CIOs in IT by CIO magazine. Even so, some would still ask, what has Pegasus done for hospitality technology lately?

A source close to the company says it’s complicated. Based on relationships with high-profile hospitality names like Rubicon, Milestone and Mobile Travel Technologies, Pegasus has introduced some of the most powerful and useful technology solutions available to hotels today.

MarketVision, Pegasus’ lovechild with Rubicon, actually allows hotels to intimately analyze their competition on a daily basis with forward-looking data that scans out up to 120 days. The source added that this feature is unique to the Pegasus/Rubicon competitive intelligence offering.

Media darling and awards-circuit fixture Milestone Internet Marketing Services collaborates with Utell to offer members Internet marketing services including Website design, search engine optimization, pay-per-click advertising, social media optimization, e-mail marketing and social media monitoring.

And then there’s the company’s long-standing and quiet relationship with Mobile Travel Technologies. Utell Mobile, the company’s mobile offering currently utilized by members like Warwick Hotels and Thompson Hotels, actually surpasses the competition with capabilities tailored to any mobile device – not just that other media darling – making it one of the best solutions on the market to capture the captive worldwide mobile booking audience.

Insiders expect we’ll be seeing a lot more of Pegasus in the headlines before all is said and done, especially as the company’s best-selling monthly data report The Pegasus View marks its first anniversary in July.

When asked to comment on the tabloid frenzy, Mike Kistner simply smiled and said, “We’re definitely getting around.”
