Rich Siegel Talks with Former Wyndham Executive Danny Hudson, About the State of the Hospitality Industry and the Difficult Decisions Being Made Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic.
In the unprecedented economic and social conditions the world is experiencing today, Rich Siegel and the team at Hospitality Upgrade Magazine have launched a new format for gathering and disseminating important information about the hospitality technology industry to their readership, and the public at large.

In HU’s new video feature High Five, Rich will sit down virtually with industry officials, not only to find out what’s happening in the various sectors of the industry, but also to connect on a more personal level.

For the very first edition of HU’s High Five, Rich sat down with Danny Hudson – a familiar face in the hospitality community who up until just a few weeks ago was the GVP of Business Technology and Integration for Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. The elimination of his position was a direct result of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic and the tremendous negative impact it has had on the hospitality industry.

“It came across the West almost quicker than people realized what was going on, and by the time it came to be a worldwide issue, the industry was in such a trough that there were really tough decisions that had to be made,” Hudson explained.
On a more personal note, Hudson’s answers to Rich’s High Five Questions about things like his first job, favorite concert and whether he likes red or white wine better lightened the mood of this unique and socially distance-appropriate format.

When asked about his storied history in the hospitality technology sector, and what he thinks about the future of the hotel industry and travel in general, Hudson quipped, “It’s going to take a while for this industry to come back in real force …it’s going to take a level of creativity to help the industry travel again.”
