The 35th annual Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC®), produced by Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®), will be June 25-28 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

HITEC 2007 will feature a wide variety of education sessions, 300+ exhibiting companies and recognition for hospitality industry professionals.

Education Sessions
HITEC 2007 offers a unique combination of top-notch hospitality technology education, led by industry peers and experts. The 40+ technology focused education sessions will include topics ranging from product purchasing, guest services, future technologies and more. Jonathan Tisch, chairman and CEO of Loews Hotels, will give the opening session presentation, “Chocolates on the Pillow Aren’t Enough”, at HITEC 2007 on Tuesday, June 26. The closing session, “2007 I.T. Challenges: Supplier’s Respond,” will be Thursday, June 28.

In an effort to provide education opportunities relevant to all attendees, HITEC 2007, along with the Supplier Education Task Force, will also add three new education sessions designed by and for suppliers of the hospitality industry. This new feature to HITEC will include topics such as above property systems, building your group business and how hoteliers and suppliers can understand each other.

Trade Show
HITEC’s trade show will showcase the latest hospitality technology products and services from over 300 companies. It will also include three special features: the new version of GUESTROOM 2010, the brand new HITEC FAVE Awards and the brand new Club Technology Pavilion.

The highlight of HITEC will be GUESTROOM 2010, sponsored by IBM. The futuristic guestroom, which will feature 70 latest and near-future technologies for a modern hotel room, will unveil a new version at HITEC 2007.

The brand new HITEC FAVE Awards is a program that will identify HITEC attendees' favorite booth designs and technology solutions at the exhibit hall. HITEC attendees will vote on their favorite island booth, favorite inline booth and favorite exhibitor giveaway. In addition to voting on booth design, attendees will vote for the HITEC Favorite Solutions Awards; the five favorite technologies or solutions exhibited at HITEC.

The Club Technology Pavilion will be a special area in the exhibit hall with hands-on displays of the latest in emerging club technology. The pavilion will feature club-specific software and products from approximately 15 different club vendors.

HITEC offers more than education sessions and a trade show; it also provides an opportunity for the industry to celebrate professionals that have made significant accomplishments in the hospitality industry. The Award of Merit, HFTP International Hospitality Technology Hall of Fame and 2007 CHTP of the Year awards will be presented at the opening session on Tuesday, June 26.

The Award of Merit, presented every five years, recognizes individuals who have made a significant innovation or breakthrough that established a path for others in hospitality technology. The 2007 recipients include Joyce Christmas, William Duncan, Ed Hollinshead, Joseph Marko and William Sullivan.

The HFTP International Hospitality Technology Hall of Fame is an opportunity to recognize an individual who has greatly influenced the industry. The 2007 inductee is John Springer-Miller. Since the inception of the HFTP International Hospitality Technology Hall of Fame in 1989, 28 individuals have been recognized at HITEC for their contributions to the hospitality industry.

HFTP will honor Oliver Nihart-Arango, CHTP, as the 2007 Certified Hospitality Technology Professional (CHTP) of the Year. In its 10th year, the CHTP of the Year award recognizes the person who scored the highest in a given year on the CHTP exam.
