Hospitality professionals will gather this month to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals’ (HFTP®) Greater Puget Sound Chapter, while raising funds for hospitality nonprofit FareStart.

The 85-member chapter is a collection of hospitality financial and technology professionals in the Puget Sound’s Seattle-Tacoma, Wash. region. The anniversary event will include food, drinks, music, networking and raffle prizes with proceeds going to FareStart. It will be held August 16 at 6 p.m. at the Inn at the Market.

“The chapter has grown a lot over the past 40 years and we want to recognize and celebrate this anniversary,” said Rick Braa, CHAE, principal with Clothier and Head and chapter president. “It is a monumental achievement that the chapter has upheld the integrity of HFTP values with quality education, great networking opportunities and chances to help local charities for the last four decades.”

The event will also be a time for the chapter to present a donation to FareStart, a Seattle-based nonprofit that provides training and job placement in the restaurant industry for homeless and disadvantaged adults. Each year, the chapter picks a charity and collects donations at meetings through raffle tickets. The chapter will also volunteer at FareStart’s Guest Chef Night in January 2008, when chapter members will be bussers and servers for the evening with gratuities donated back to FareStart’s training program.

“We appreciate the dedication the HFTP Puget Sound chapter has provided to the men and women in our program,” said Megan Karch, executive director of FareStart. “The chapter’s support of FareStart not only benefits students of the program, it also benefits the hospitality industry as a whole.”
