QSR Automations®, a leading technology provider helping businesses worldwide maximize guest delight through comprehensive hospitality automation, announces new agreements with Captain D’s, LLC and Del Taco, LLC, both owned by Sagittarius Brands, Inc.

These new agreements build on successful multi-year relationships between QSR and Captain D’s as well as Del Taco.  Both companies are continuing to implement in corporate locations and make available to franchisees QSR’s ePic® Kitchen Management Solution, including the ePic Kitchen Display Software (KDS), ePic video controller, and KP-3000™ keypad.

With the 2006 addition of Del Taco as well as the announcement of a new Captain D’s Seafood Kitchen branding initiative, Sagittarius Brands is embarking on the opportunity to grow two strong companies that represent locations across the county, while also embracing multi-branding potential.  Already proven within Captain D’s and Del Taco, QSR’s reliable and flexible ePic kitchen solution is an important technology tool to help both companies achieve these enhanced business goals.

“With an unrelenting focus on providing quality meals through efficient and friendly service, to us, technology is all about reliably and consistently driving speed of service,” said Chris Crabtree, vice president of information services for Captain D’s, LLC.  “With QSR’s kitchen solution, we not only have a system that causes no worry, freeing us up to focus on our guests – we also have a customizable solution we can grow with.”

QSR’s ePic controller offers an industrialized design with no moving parts or fans to bring in grease and water, as well as the ability to operate at high temperature levels.  The solution architecture provides full redundancy with automated fail-over protection.  In-restaurant team members also benefit from the configurability of QSR’s ePic KDS, such as the ability to change the routing and display attributes for orders on the kitchen screens during low volume and high volume periods throughout the day.  The kitchen screens can also be split, such as for managing drive-thru orders on one portion of the screen and to-go orders on another portion of the screen.  Additionally, Captain D’s and Del Taco have found added clarity on the screens based on the colors used in the restaurant configurations.
“As a company that continuously investigates technologies to ensure we have the best systems in place to support our specific operational and business goals, we have kept our eye on kitchen management solutions – and QSR, by far, is still the best,” added David Snyder, director of information technology and chief information officer for Del Taco, LLC.
QSR’s customizable ePic KDS also provides scalability, which is important for co-branded locations.  For instance, a typical Captain D’s or Del Taco restaurant relies on three to five kitchen video stations, while a co-branded location will implement seven kitchen stations.  Offering added flexibility, QSR’s ePic KDS can be installed with a large number of point-of-sale systems, ensuring that Captain D’s and Del Taco, which use different point-of-sale systems across the companies as well as in some franchise locations, have access to critical production data in real-time and historical formats from all restaurants.
