Craig Prystay, of RPB Hotels & Resorts, had to standardize point of sale systems for the company’s four hotels.

The dilemma was that the four hotels are under two flags, Ramada and Best Western, each of whom wanted the hotels’ property management systems to be on one of the approved corporate systems.  Whatever point-of-sale system they chose had to interface with the property management choices.

“We have four hotels, two had Squirrel Classic and two had another older point-of-sale system,” said Prystay.  “For Best Western alone we had a choice of six possible property management systems.  Our research revealed that Squirrel interfaced with all of the choices.

The conversion of all four hotels started in June 2007 and now all of the properties are running with SquirrelOne Release 4 with the appropriate hotel interface.  Most of the hotels have a combination of bars, restaurants and room service.

The hotel management is already seeing the benefits of the new system.  “It’s too early to declare definitive results but there was an immediate change in our controls.  We are now capturing more sales as a result of Squirrel’s pop-up modifier feature that requires the input of order modifications, some of which are priced,” said Prystay.
