Presto Cucina Delivers Fresh Italian Fast with SquirrelOne & Microsoft MapPoint

Squirrel Systems, a leading restaurant point of sale systems provider, announced today that they have entered into a pilot of their Home Delivery module with integration to Microsoft® MapPoint.

This new Squirrel feature is currently in pilot at Presto Cucina, one of Vancouver’s finest quick casual Italian eateries. 

Presto Cucina has been piloting the newest version of Squirrel’s CRM Delivery module since mid-summer 2007.  “Our key objective when entering into the original pilot last summer was to make the Take-Out & Delivery process as seamless to our guests as dining in,” states Debbie Martin Del Campo, Concept Leader of Presto Cucina.  “We have definitely achieved that goal and this next initiative allows us to raise the bar even more.”  Debbie goes on to say, “We love being part of Squirrel’s pilot program.  Steve Hanko, who manages our Squirrel relationship, really understands our business.  As a trainer, he’s patient with our staff members and demonstrates a keen sense of urgency when challenges arise.  We trust him to let us know when there’s a new feature that will enhance our use of Squirrel’s technology.

“The integration with MapPoint automatically generates directions that print onto the restaurant guest check.  “We can’t always find drivers who are familiar with the area,” says Chantal Juniper, General Manager of the pilot location.  “In the past, we’ve had to find directions manually, either on-line or through city maps.  This took a lot of time, tied up the office computer and took key restaurant personnel away from the front line while they were searching for directions.”

The Microsoft SQL database in Squirrel CRM Delivery 2.0 facilitates this integration as well as enabling the updated back office to provide dashboards, easy viewing of customer transactions and drill-down to individual customer and item level detail. The new version significantly streamlines setup and configuration of modules.   CRM Delivery is fully integrated with Squirrel's Loyalty modules 2.0 which will in release shortly along with Squirrel's Reservation & Waitlist and Table Management.
The pilot store provides home delivery Thursday through Sunday.  Presto Cucina will soon start rolling the MapPoint version into their other locations.  The next store to implement the MapPoint integration has a much higher volume of home delivery and is located in a larger more complex area.  “This is what we’ve been waiting for,” says Debbie.  “Our key home delivery objective is to consistently deliver high quality service and food.  Tools that make our drivers more efficient help us meet this goal.” 

Since the spring of 2002, guests have been enjoying the culinary delights of Presto Cucina with gusto, generous servings, and above all, the beckoning smell of fresh garlic.
Presto Cucina is described as "Italian Casual," offering the best of Rustic Pizzas, Presto Pastas and Salads in a cooked to order, quick service style. This innovative service style allows restaurant guests to control how much time they commit to lunch or dinner.

Averaging between 60 and 80 seats, the restaurants have a decidedly Mediterranean feel, with lots of touches that make it distinctively different. There are walls of natural brick, Portuguese cork tiled floors, natural wood tones and warm lighting, with whimsical art that reinforces the Italian theme. The kitchen, where cooks deliver on Presto's hurry-up promise, is open to view.
