General sessions for the popular Club and Hotel Controllers Conferences, a service of Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals’ (HFTP®), will tackle issues inhibiting personal and career growth.

The first conference is March 17 - 18 at the Westin San Diego in San Diego, Calif. The second conference will be held June 17-18 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. Online registration is available now for both conferences.

In the session entitled, “Fired Up Leadership,” with Steve Gutzler, president of Leadership Quest, will show attendees how to unlock the mental habits that inhibit careers and leadership. The session will lead attendees on an inspiring journey of recapturing the unique and life-changing dreams inside everyone.

Marilyn A. Feldstein, MPA, JCTC, PHR, MBTI, will cover communication skills in her session, “We Are Hired for Our Technical Skills and Fired for Our Interpersonal Skills.” Brushing up on interpersonal skills, attendees will learn how to build relationships that improve their careers and personal lives. Attendees also will have a chance to practice newly discovered skills during the session.

The Club and Hotel Controllers Conferences, held twice annually, feature education programs and networking opportunities. Along with the general sessions, the education program includes two industry-specific tracks, one for hotels and the other for clubs.

Attending the March conference also gives attendees a chance to expand their HFTP education by attending the first HFTP Regional Leadership Seminar. The seminar focuses on leadership skills necessary for successful chapter management, as well as provides a forum to discuss new ideas and innovations. It immediately follows the conference on March 18 from 1-5 p.m. at the Westin San Diego and is free to current HFTP members. To register for the seminar, visit the HFTP Web site.

The June conference is co-located with HITEC (Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference), one of the world's largest hospitality technology conferences and expositions. Attending the June Club and Hotel Controllers Conference gives attendees the opportunity to visit the HITEC exhibit hall.
In addition to the expected 300-plus companies exhibiting, the 2008 exhibit hall will feature the Club Technology Pavilion, GUESTROOM 2010 and the HITEC FAVE Awards. Attendees are also invited to the HITEC welcome reception on Monday, June 16. Club professionals can also take advantage of special HITEC 2008 education sessions on Wednesday and Thursday that explore topics on club technologies that challenge the club industry. For more information about the HITEC 2008 education schedule, visit the HITEC Web site.
