Pegasus Solutions has named industry veteran Ric Leutwyler president of Pegasus representation services, including Utell® Hotels & Resorts and Unirez by Pegasus™.

Leutwyler joins Pegasus, one of the hotel industry’s largest third-party marketing and reservations providers, from Best Western.

During his six-year tenure serving in various senior vice president and vice president positions for Best Western, Leutwyler worked with more than 4,100 hotels in 80 countries and territories worldwide to ensure brand quality and maximize member services, e-commerce and field marketing. This international management experience makes him ideal to serve at the helm of Pegasus’ representation services, which are used by nearly 11,000 member hotels in more than 130 countries, according to Mike Kistner, chief executive officer for Pegasus.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ric before at Best Western and Cendant,” said Kistner. “He’s one of the best executives this industry has seen in breaking through to results for the hotels and agents he works with. We’re confident he’ll bring the strong leadership, innovative ideas and unparalleled experience we’ve been looking for to take Utell and Unirez to new markets and the next level for hotels and agents.”

Prior to joining Best Western in 2002, Leutwyler held various leadership positions with Cendant Travel, Inc., where he also served as general manager with responsibility for running one of the leading U.S. travel agencies, which had more than $750 million in annual sales, 12 call centers and more than 2,500 employees at the time. Before his 11 years at Cendant, he also held national account positions with AT&T.

Leutwyler earned a bachelor of business administration from the University of Iowa, and served for three years in the United States Marine Corps, where he left active duty as a Sergeant.
