VingCard®, a leading hospitality security provider and part of the ASSA ABLOY Hospitality Group, announced it will install Signature RFID contactless electronic door locks with NFC cell phone compatibility at the Nelsen Lodge in Revelstoke, British Columbia.

Set to open in fall 2008, the lodge is the first phase of development of the multiphase Revelstoke Mountain Resort community.

“When it came to securing the lodge, we needed to select an electronic door lock that offers the ultimate in quality and security, while complimenting the resort’s natural environment and unique architecture,” said Mike Duggan, president of Boutique Hotels & Resorts of British Columbia. “Signature RFID was the ideal choice not only because of the locks’ good looks, but also because they provide the security and reliability the industry has come to expect from VingCard.”

Upon completing the lock installation, the 221-room Nelsen Lodge will be fully equipped to provide user-friendly and intuitive guest interaction, including NFC cell phone compatibility, while decreasing the overall workload of the resort’s management and staff. Signature RFID also provides unmatched control and security – with a 600-event audit trail and innovative anti-cloning software – creating a sense of ease for hoteliers according to Laura Cigana, vice president of Canadian sales for ASSA ABLOY Hospitality North America.

“We are very pleased to equip the first phase of the Revelstoke resort community, and we are confident that Signature RFID will help increase guest satisfaction at the Nelsen Lodge,” Cigana said. “Additionally, the satin chrome hardware that was selected will blend perfectly with the unique atmosphere of the resort.”

Signature RFID is a secure open-platform system compatible with the three leading RFID ISO standards (ISO 14443A/MiFare, ISO 14443B, ISO 15693) and the new NFC transaction platform for cell phones. By installing Signature RFID locks, the Nelsen Lodge will be ready to offer remote checkin to guests with NFC-compatible cell phones. After making a reservation but prior to arrival at the hotel, guests will receive a booking confirmation number, room number and encrypted room key access code through an encrypted short message system (SMS) to their NFC-enabled cell phone, allowing them to bypass the check-in line upon arrival and go straight to the room, where their NFC-enabled cell phones will unlock the guestroom door.
