TimeLox®, a leading supplier of electronic hotel locking systems and part of the ASSA ABLOY Hospitality Group in North America, has installed DC-One, a unique dual-card (magnetic stripe and smartcard) locking system, at the Aloft™ Montreal Airport hotel in Dorval, Quebec – the first property worldwide to open under this new hotel brand from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.®.

“When it came to securing this new property, we chose TimeLox based on the brand’s track record of providing the hospitality industry with unsurpassed security solutions that are reliable and easy to operate,” said Perry Vashee, a representative from the ownership group of the Aloft Montreal Airport.

By installing DC-One, the 136-room property can enjoy the unique advantages that both magnetic stripe and smartcard locking technologies offer, while maximizing security for the hotel and its guests. By combining the economy and reliability of magnetic stripe keycards with the flexibility of smartcard technology, DC-One not only makes hotel staff functions easier to perform, but it also decreases the overall workload for the hotel according to Laura Cigana, vice president of Canadian sales for ASSA ABLOY Hospitality North America.

“We are excited and honored to outfit the first-ever Aloft property to open worldwide,” Cigana said. “By choosing DC-One, the hotel can expect maximum security with unmatched ease-of-use. Additionally, the Aloft Montreal Airport has selected two-piece sectional trim hardware that will allow for easy future upgrades to new technologies like RFID and/or RF online solutions.”

The sectional trim lock installed by TimeLox at the Aloft Montreal Airport features minimal door hardware and designers’ collection door handles. The unique two-piece design will also allow for the possibility to upgrade to contactless RFID electronic locks in the future as easily as exchanging the card reader module – without changing the handles, door prep or mortise.

Conveniently located at the entrance to Montreal’s Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport, the property officially opened on June 5, 2008. As one of the newest hotel brands to be introduced by Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Aloft is “infused with the DNA of W Hotels” featuring loft-inspired design, accessible technology and a stylish urban attitude.
