LG Electronics, a leader in providing advanced technology solutions to the hospitality and lodging industry, is showcasing its full line of solutions, led by LG’s Pro:Centric™ technology, at the 2009 Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC).

In booth 956, LG is displaying plasma HDTVs with a stunning new single-layer design, as well as a new single-cable-connection Remote Jack Pack and EcoSmart™ display technology.

“LG Electronics is changing the way hotels cater to guests by providing high-definition display technologies that bring the comfort of home to the hotel room,” said Ron Snaidauf, vice president, Commercial Products, LG Electronics USA Business Solutions. “With LG’s Pro:Centric technology, we’re advancing the guest experience and making it easier than ever for hoteliers to share information using the latest in-room technology.”

Be Guest-Centric, Go Pro:Centric

Pro:Centric technology is a standards-based applications platform that streamlines information sharing from the hotel to guests, improving the overall guest experience. A cost-effective way for hotels to deliver uniform services and features over both coax and CAT5- IP (Internet protocol) based networks; this system can provide in-room services without the need for additional hardware such as set top boxes.

Now available for integration in the lodging environment, Pro:Centric facilitates quicker execution of new applications and back-office integration. This robust interactive applications platform enables hoteliers to customize the entire in-room experience, providing a unique way for hotels to deliver uniform services and features.

Providing hotel owners with an Electronic Interactive Program Guide, Pro:Centric provides advanced channel search and selection capabilities for easier channel surfing. Future releases will allow hoteliers to customize their applications with unique authoring tools and Java-enabled technologies. For example, the system will be able to deliver guest-friendly information such as room service menus, spa services and golf course schedules on the HDTV at the touch of the remote. (Note: such guest service applications may require optional software, hardware, a third-party subscription service contract and customization at an additional cost.)

Further enhancing interactivity and utility, LG’s flat-panel displays with an MPI port are compatible with new technology from Control4 Corporation. Combined with LG’s Pro:Centric integrated HDTVs, the Control4 card creates an automation system allowing guests to control lighting, room temperature, draperies and entertainment systems through the TV remote control. Control4 technology is now available for integration with LG hospitality HDTVs.

Smart Energy Savings, Advanced HDTV Technology

Combining LG’s Intelligent Sensor and Power Saving functions for both plasmas and LCDs, new “LG EcoSmart” technology takes smart energy savings one step further. The Intelligent Sensor function automatically adjusts the picture brightness based on the amount of light in the room, which can help to save energy.

On LG’s LCDs, Dynamic Power Savings reduces power consumption under most conditions and optimizes picture settings, while Static Power Savings allows the installer to set the preferred power consumption level. Plasmas feature three power saving modes which also provide a choice in the maximum power consumption level.

This combination of automatic settings and options for manual adjustments helps hoteliers save on energy costs and allows increased energy savings while still providing superior picture quality to guests.

LG’s new HDTV models also feature a sleek Invisible Speaker system, tuned by renowned audio expert Mr. Mark Levinson. Designed in the bezel of the HDTV, the speakers give a sleek appearance, hiding unsightly speaker grills and streamlining the look and feel of the hotel room. For those movie aficionados who hate to miss a line of dialogue, LG’s new Clear Voice II Technology raises dialogue when background noise swells, in an action sequence, for instance.

LG’s new LG700H LCD HDTV is the first series of lodging pay-per-view (PPV) compatible HDTVs to include an applications platform, LG Pro:Centric. Available in 32-, 37- and 42-inch class* screen sizes, the LG700H models also are LG’s first Pro:Idiom® sets that are Energy Star 3.0 rated. (Pro:Idiom is the industry-standard digital rights management system assuring availability of high-value HD content in hospitality settings.)

“Together, Pro:Centric, Pro:Idiom and LG’s HDTVs provide the perfect package for the guest, combining high-definition and ease-of-use into one sleek package,” Snaidauf said. LG700H features also include LG’s Invisible Speaker, Clear Voice II and EcoSmart technologies.

Headlining LG’s new lodging HDTVs, the PS60C series plasma HDTVs incorporate a unique single-layer flat panel design, giving the illusion of a single pane of glass and adding style to any hotel environment. The 50- and 60-inch class* models include full 1080p resolution, delivering an optimum viewing experience for high-definition content. The large screen sizes and Full HD resolution makes this series ideal for suites or public spaces.

Additional models on display at HITEC 2009 include:

LG500H series LCD HDTV – Available in 32-, 37- and 42-inch class* sizes, the LG500H LCDs are Pro:Idiom enabled, allowing them to access Video on Demand and Free to Guest services – a simple solution for the decryption of secure content, which allows guests to view premium HDTV programming with the addition of LG’s LMT7Z7 card.

Guest-Centric Connectivity
