Capton announced that they have an agreement with FelCor Lodging Trust (FelCor) to install Capton’s Beverage Tracker solution in their hotels.

FelCor owns 85 hotels and resorts in 23 states and Canada. The company's diversified portfolio contains globally branded flags, managed primarily by its brand partners, Hilton Hotels Corporation, Marriott International Inc., Starwood Hotels & Resorts and InterContinental Hotels Group.

FelCor further leverages the expertise of its management partners by searching out and funding innovation which can impact bottom line performance and ownership value when implemented. Commitment to innovation is a daunting mission in any economic situation, yet FelCor readily accepted the Capton challenge to show them how its Beverage Tracker solution could reduce liquor costs, boost revenue and maintain a sustainable ROI.

Don Falgoust, vice president, food and beverage for FelCor said, “We fully tested the Beverage Tracker solution and found it works as represented and produces compelling, measurable ROI results. Because of those results, FelCor has decided the Capton technology is strategically important for us to move forward with.”

The Beverage Tracker system utilizes RFID-enabled liquor pour spouts to provide a better-than-secret-shopper picture of exactly how each drink is prepared, how the guest is served and how the transaction is handled in the point-of-sale (POS) system. The system tracks and highlights variance events for management follow up action. ROI reviews insure management understands the current operational patterns monitored by the system, resulting progress areas and remaining improvement opportunities, so that the optimal strategy for bar performance is sustained.

“Capton made it easy for us by going into one of our smaller property bar operations and partnering with the local management team to prove the solution,” added Falgoust. “In the future, we will evaluate installing Capton in our new properties and we will factor Capton into our long-range capital plans for our existing full-service properties.”

“We are very pleased when an organization with the reputation of FelCor makes a commitment of this nature,” said Scott Martiny, CEO of Capton. “This validates the technology and its application in the hotel market. It moves us closer to the point in time when Capton’s Beverage Tracker stops being an innovation idea and starts to become an industry standard. And it helps us in our partnerships with the major brands to have owners and asset managers ready to fund these projects.”
