MICROS Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: MCRS), a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality industry, announced that Viking Line Abp is deploying myfidelio.net in conjunction with Viking Line's cruise booking system to handle cruise and partner hotel reservations.

After 50 years of ferry services, Viking Line recognized the need to modernize its cruise booking system and utilize a hotel reservation solution that connects it with the hotel industry.

By combining cruise ships with the high-capacity vehicle decks, Viking Line reigns as one of the leading shipping companies on the Baltic Sea. With over 50,000 hotel bookings made through the Viking Line's own cruise booking system, Viking Line needed a strong business tool to handle the high volume of reservations. Viking Line selected MICROS's myfidelio.net for its ability to seamlessly integrate with its other systems, and because it enables Viking Line to use its own strong marketing services and brand recognition.

MICROS's myfidelio.net is an enterprise solution providing central reservation management services and connections to worldwide distribution channels through all four major GDSs. This advanced e-commerce solution connects the hotel industry with the travel trade and end consumers, allowing them to conduct travel related e-commerce. By using the Internet booking facilities of myfidelio.net, Viking Line and its partner hotels turn their own Web sites into a true sales portal.

"As part of the modernization of our cruise booking system, we selected MICROS's myfidelio.net for its advanced services and innovative features," said Sune Haggblom, CIO, Viking Line Abp. "Our goal is to implement a cost-effective reservation process that streamlines the administration for Viking Line and its partner hotels and allows Viking Line to improve its profitability. After careful research, we decided to outsource the hotel reservations to MICROS-Fidelio to help provide Viking Line and its partner hotels with the best technology, return on investment, and support for our current operations and future strategy."

"We are pleased to provide Viking Line with a proven solution from MICROS. We have worked for years to achieve a leading position of channeling direct hotel reservations from an increasing number of reservation service companies and portals," said Ari-Pekka Heiskala, vice president, MICROS-Fidelio EAME Nordic. "As Viking Line is a primary hotel service producer with its cruise booking business, myfidelio.net offers a perfect solution for Viking Link and its hotel partners, supporting both the contracted and the free sales basis rates, and allowing existing partner hotels as well as new candidate hotels that work with Viking Line, to utilize this tool. Most important, MICROS's myfidelio.net provides hotel customers with an easy-to-use hotel booking channel."
