After considerable industrywide research, Kendall College has added MeetingMatrix International to its hospitality curriculum.

MeetingMatrix provides state-of-the-art meeting planning technology solutions, which will soon be taught to all students enrolled in the hospitality school at Kendall College.

Designed and developed to address the everyday challenges of event planning, the MeetingMatrix software provides for flawless meeting preparation and remains one of the most advanced room diagramming solutions on the market today. Founded on the principle of expanding and enhancing communication between event sites and meeting professionals around the world, it has become an industry leader and continues to enhance the meeting experience. Because of its presence and value within the meetings and events industry, Kendall College saw the need to implement this high-tech software into its curriculum.

For 75 years, Kendall College has been offering engaging, specialized fields of study with a strong emphasis on immersive learning that is geared to academic, personal and professional success. Kendall College is a subsidiary of Laureate Education, Inc., a global network of 43 institutions of higher learning in 20 countries with more than 100 campuses including online.

Glen C. Ramsborg, Ph.D., CMP, was recently appointed as a professor in the Les Roches School of Hospitality Management at Kendall College and who actively sought out the MeetingMatrix event planning software.  Ramsborg, who joined the Kendall faculty in September, is a veteran education professional with a 25-year career in meeting and event management. He is a longtime member of both the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and Meeting Professionals International (MPI), and was formerly the senior director of education at PCMA. Due to his extensive background in the industry he understands the value of MeetingMatrix and what it will bring to the classroom.

Ramsborg said, “Today’s students are tomorrow’s users, which is why it is essential to present them with useful technology solutions that will help them in real life situations upon graduating and finding a job. The value MeetingMatrix brings to the educators and to this curriculum benefits everyone at hand. I’m extremely excited to start teaching MeetingMatrix, and for my students to have this learning experience.”

In today’s fast-paced environment, instant and accurate information is critical to the success of a meeting planner. That is why MeetingMatrix developed software that provides planners with the tools they need in order to successfully plan and execute any meeting or event. Planners have access to a venue’s measured and certified diagrams, and then are able to create event setups specific to their needs, all with that particular venue’s exact dimensions and inventory items. From there, with the MeetingMatrix 3D-VR Browser, planners can view their desired setup in 3-D virtual reality so that they can feel as though they are actually experiencing their event. The technology is advancing the way in which business is done, which is why Professor Ramsborg and Kendall College understand its importance in the education field and will include it in their meeting and event management courses.

MeetingMatrix provides the software free of charge to any school which opts to include it as a part of their curriculum. Professors and students are also able to take free, online webinars, taught by a seasoned MeetingMatrix professional.

Many universities throughout the United States and Europe are beginning to implement the software into their hospitality schools. Institutions such as the Rosen School of Hospitality, NYU and the University of California at Chico are a few top programs which are currently teaching MeetingMatrix to their students. Currently, 383 colleges and universities are teaching MeetingMatrix. In 2009 alone, 126 schools have either added MeetingMatrix to their curriculum or upgraded from what they had, and that number is expected to continue to grow in the coming year.

MeetingMatrix International, Inc. is a premier provider of both room diagramming application software and rich Internet applications for the global event management industry. MeetingMatrix serves 9,154 venues representing 25,961 users, and 112,891,111 square feet of measured and certified event space in 150 countries.
