The Foundation of the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) will launch its first-ever online fundraising auction in February, 2010, in conjunction with several association partner organizations.

Getaways for Good allows a portion of each winning bid to go to the bidder’s association and the balance will go to the Foundation.

Getaways for Good will showcase donations to more than 50,000 association members from five different professional associations including the American Society of Women Accountants (ASWA), American Women in Radio & Television (AWRT), International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association.

The auction will feature travel experiences and products, with proceeds benefiting the HSMAI Foundation’s industry research, publications, educational programming and academic scholarships, as well as the association partner organizations. The HSMAI Foundation was founded in 1983, and its mission is to expand and enhance the educational opportunities available to hospitality sales and marketing executives and to increase the amount of in-depth research conducted on behalf of the profession.

HSMAI is now accepting donations for Getaways for Good and is seeking a select number of signature items including:

  • Roundtrip airfare for two
  • City and resort stays and packages
  • Unique getaways and experiences
  • Golf or ski weekends
  • Cruises
  • Family Vacations
  • Spa Getaways

Donors will be featured on the auction Web site, with their logos, photos and descriptive copy.  Donors can supply specific terms and conditions, along with any other details for auction items.

“We are extremely grateful for the donations we are receiving from leaders in the hotel and travel community,” said Fran Brasseux, executive director, HSMAI Foundation. “Exciting packages have already been donated from Marriott Hotels, Ritz-Carlton, The Broadmoor, InterContinental Hotels, Fairmont Hotels, etc., which will offer a unique marketing exposure for their hotels to our large audience of potential travel buyers. The auction will result in great travel experiences for the winning bidders and will help fund important programs that will benefit the members of all the participating organizations.”

In addition, a media catalog will be open later this year to HSMAI members only and will offer values on all forms of media plus opportunities for one-on-one time with the hospitality industry's top leaders and marketing gurus for reviews and consulting services.
