Microsoft Dynamics Age Verification software allows retailers to have more control over selling items such as alcohol and cigarettes.

Available with the new Microsoft POS 2009 solution, the ID and age verification software includes features to assist and protect store owners and employees such as automatic prompts to cashiers when select items are scanned, instant driver’s license verification, and storage of transaction information.

The solution works with a 2-D hand-held scanner, such as Unitech’s MS337, which allows users to scan both the item being sold as well as the customer’s identification. User’s can preset a minimum age for all age-sensitive items in Microsoft POS 2009. When the transaction is tendered, the software will prompt the cashier to scan the customer’s driver’s license if any age-controlled items were scanned. The cashier uses the same MS337 scanner to read the driver’s license and the customer’s age will display on the screen in years, months and days, leaving no room for errors and miscalculations. In addition, the customer’s name, license number and birth date will be stored with the transaction for the cashier’s protection.

The Unitech MS337 features a powerful 2-D scan engine ensuring precision and accuracy, and is perfect for point-of-sale applications. The scanner’s lightweight and ergonomic design is easy to use, yet rugged enough to withstand multiple five-foot drops to concrete. Unitech’s high-performance, low cost point-of-sale products are used by retailers all over the world.

The ID and age verification software, along with the entire Microsoft POS 2009 system is available through System Solutions. System Solutions provides integrated point-of-sale, back office management and distributor e-commerce solutions utilizing Microsoft RMS and Microsoft Dynamics POS 2009.

“With Microsoft Dynamics Age Verification and the Unitech MS337 store owners can rest assured that the facts encoded on the license and the resultant decision, will be accurate,” said Dave Durrenberger, of System Solutions.
