Economist Douglas Holtz-Eakin to Keynote ALIS

Economist Douglas Holtz-Eakin will be the featured luncheon keynote speaker on Tuesday at the Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS), January 25-27, 2010, at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.

Dr. Holtz-Eakin, who has had a long and distinguished career of public service as an economic advisor to policy makers, will share his expertise and views on the economy and where things are headed. 

Holtz-Eakin has a distinguished record as an academic, policy adviser and strategist. His background includes an appointment to the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, a 10-member commission that Congress established to investigate the causes of the financial crisis and the collapse of major financial institutions; serving as the sixth director of the Congressio­nal Budget Office, the government’s main number cruncher;  serving 18 months as chief economist for the President’s Council of Economic Advisors under Presi­dent George W. Bush, and two years as senior staff economist for President George H. W. Bush’s Council of Economic Advisors; as well as director of domestic and economic policy for the John McCain presidential campaign.  He has recently been named senior fellow at the Peter G. Peterson Institute for International Econom­ics, the director of the Maurice R. Greenberg Center for Geoeconomic Studies, and the Paul A. Volcker Chair in International Economics at the Council on Foreign Relations.  Currently, he is the president of DHE Consulting, LLC, and the president of the Forum for Issues, Ideas, and Innovation. 

Proceeds from the ALIS conference benefit the educational, research and training missions of the Educational Institute (EI) of the American Hotel & Lodging Education Foundation (AH&LEF), AH&LA’s not-for-profit affiliate.
