Genares Worldwide Reservations Services, one of the hotel industry’s fastest-growing global representation and reservations companies, announced the promotion of Ursula Rhode to chief operating officer.

Previously the executive vice president of global services, Rhode is committed to continuously improving product quality and further enhancing service to ensure efficient and affordable solutions for Genares member hotels. Her goal for each hotel is to increase revenue, contain costs and extend the property’s marketability and industry exposure through the Internet and global distribution channels.

Rhode’s responsibilities include establishing relationships with Internet partners, travel management companies, travel agents, consortiums and international wholesalers to make sure that Genares is maximizing the use of continued technical advances and Internet distribution.

“Ursula has been a big factor in Genares’ success and growth since our inception five years ago,” said company president Eugene Harris. “Her knowledge and understanding of the hospitality industry is unsurpassed, and her continued effort to provide the best possible product and service for our customers is extremely valuable.”

Rhode, who has over 30 years experience in the hospitality industry, previously worked with Genares owners Ricky A. Wilkins, Michael G. Wilkins and Harris at Lexington Services, helping build the company into the second-largest representation company in the world.

Genares Worldwide Reservations Services Ltd. was launched in 2004 by former Lexington Services Corp. founders and executives. As the first new central reservation system to come to market since 1999, Genares’ gReserve Web-based CRS and related services are provided on an ASP basis and designed for properties ranging from small independents to large chain hotels. The lodging industry’s only privately held reservations technology provider created by hoteliers for hoteliers, Genares’ services include seamless GDS and Internet connectivity, a private-label Internet booking engine, a Web-based CRS with two-way XML property management system interfaces, and private-label voice reservations/call center services. Genares successfully completed the Hotel Technology Next Generation certification process and achieved certification of compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards, joining a short list of compliance-certified CRS providers. Genares is headquartered in the Dallas/Fort Worth suburb of Las Colinas, Texas, and has sales representation worldwide, with offices throughout Europe and Asia. The company is owned by Ricky A. Wilkins, Michael G. Wilkins and Eugene Harris.
