When VingCard Elsafe, a global leader in hospitality security and part of the ASSA ABLOY Group, announced it was introducing a new product at HITEC 2010 in Orlando, it captured the attention of the industry, with audiences around the world demanding more information.

At HITEC 2010 June 21-24, with the unveiling of its new intelligent energy management solution, Orion by VingCard Elsafe, the product spoke for itself. Designed to reduce energy costs while ensuring guest comfort, VingCard Elsafe’s new intelligent thermostat has the ability to integrate into a hotel’s wireless online locking system, thereby offering guests the maximum in comfort, safety, efficiency.

“We were excited about the great turnout at the press conference on June 22, where we offered the first product demonstration of the company’s new intelligent energy management solution, Orion by VingCard Elsafe,” said David Nowak, director of EMS sales and business development. “Since energy consumption is consistently one of the highest costs for a hotel property, there is a need for hoteliers to gain control of runaway costs - and the introduction at HITEC hit the mark with hoteliers at the show.”

The new intelligent energy management solution, which allows hotel properties to manage guestroom temperatures remotely from one central location and to automatically control temperature settings as guests travel in and out of guestrooms, is VingCard Elsafe’s solution to the increasing need for environmental initiatives at hotels. By giving hoteliers the tools to reduce energy consumption and improve properties’ green initiatives, VingCard Elsafe is putting power back in the hands of hoteliers.

In conjunction with the introduction of Orion by VingCard Elsafe at HITEC, VingCard Elsafe showcased its complete line of electronic locking solutions and safes. VISIONLINE by VingCard, the wireless online system that offers reliable two-way communication from standalone electronic door locks to their host security and PMSs, operates in conjunction with Orion by VingCard Elsafe, offering maximum functionality through a complete and smooth integration of locks, safes and thermostat on the same wireless online platform.  By operating with VISIONLINE, door locks communicate directly with the room’s thermostat, informing the thermostat that the keycard opening the guestroom door is either a guest card or a hotel staff card, signaling the thermostat to adjust the temperature accordingly. While operating with VISIONLINE maximizes the potential of the new product, Orion by VingCard Elsafe can also operate independently from a property’s locking solution, detecting a guest’s presence through as occupancy motion sensor, which uses the RF-online capabilities to communicate with the room’s thermostat.

VingCard Elsafe also showcased its Signature RFID by VingCard electronic locks, its widely successful line of contactless electronic door locks that offer highly reliable security features and provide unprecedented convenience and ease-of-operation for hoteliers and hotel guests alike. The radio frequency identification (RFID) locks employ the latest locking technology to offer a unique contactless design for user-friendly, intuitive guest interaction paired with unsurpassed security, including anti-cloning technology that provides extra protection against keycard cloning. Additionally, the system can adapt to its users’ needs, employing options from contactless keycards to wristbands to key fobs, and even cutting-edge near-field communication (NFC) cell phones to bring a unique experience to each individual that uses the locks.

“Since the introduction of the industry’s first recodable lock in 1979, VingCard Elsafe has been perfecting security in the hospitality industry,” said Nowak. “As quality and integrity are continuing to become a priority for hoteliers, the electronic locking solutions from VingCard continue to draw attention from the industry, consistently drawing new visitors to the booth to learn more about these industry-leading technologies.”

SENTINEL II by Elsafe was also featured this year at HITEC, with the RFID-enabled model earning a coveted spot as a contributor to the source for the most advanced hospitality technology, GUESTROOM 20X. The SENTINEL II safe features Elsafe’s exclusive anti-cloning technology and works in tandem with VingCard’s Signature RFID/NFC contactless electronic lock, meaning the in-room safe can only be opened with the designated RFID guest device (such as a keycard, wristband or key fob) or an NFC-equipped cell phone. Packaged in a modern design for the quality searching, design conscious hoteliers that desire reliable technology with an aesthetically pleasing unit, the safes feature an industry leading audit trail, a hook-style interlocking mechanism, an anti-tamper labyrinth mechanism, a solid piece, cold-pressed curved steel door and extended solid steel hinges permanently arc-welded to the door

“With the introduction of Orion, VingCard Elsafe is taking the initiative to give hoteliers what they need to improve their bottomline and protect the environment,” said Nowak. “By providing a way to gain control of runaway costs and increase efficiency of hotel staff, VingCard Elsafe continues to offer cutting-edge technology to the hospitality industry in order to meet and exceed customer’s expectations.”

VingCard Elsafe, a world leader in developing locking systems for the hospitality industry, offers one of the first integrated energy management solutions that provides hoteliers more than temperature control.  As one of the first global security companies to integrate an energy management solution with its premier locking system, Orion by VingCard Elsafe allows seamless operation of both energy management and security through a single interface. With its successful introduction at HITEC, Orion by VingCard Elsafe has already attracted several major hotel properties, and both installations and new projects are currently underway.
