Adaco Delivers New Capabilities for the Marriott Marquis

When leisure and business visitors come to Manhattan for a true New York City experience, they come to one of the most iconic hotels in the world—the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square.

And when the Marriott Marquis needs efficient procurement and inventory control, it turns to Adaco.NET to help control costs on everything from tea to towels.

"We process 99 percent of our food and beverage purchases through Adaco," said Jonathan Pilliod, purchasing manager for the property. "We save time and money because we don't have to export or search multiple vendor sites and plug prices into a spreadsheet. Adaco.NET cuts down on the time needed to process complex buys by aggregating multiple purchase requisitions from multiple outlets for multiple products and combining them into individual POs for each vendor."

The hotel's six restaurants and lounges, two Starbucks, and major catering space—as well as all housekeeping needs—present a complex ordering scenario.

Pilliod believes inventory control at the property is made easier with order guides and templates designed for each outlet, reducing the time their staff spends in front of a computer screen. Pilliod said, "The Marriott Marquis is a busy, busy hotel. We have a great team and everyone is truly committed."
He added that associates as well as guests benefit from features like budget management with checkbook accounting (for either budget or vendor contract tracking), outlet usage analysis and recipe creation with menu engineering.

"We can get a price variance report or competitive quote, we can manually put in a special need or download prices from a comparable vendor in just a few seconds," Pilliod said. "We have the capability of plugging into our POS system for sales data at the front and at the end of our ordering cycle. We currently export accounts payable into Oracle/PeopleSoft for invoice payment processing—with so much information to handle, Adaco becomes a great invoicing tracking tool as well."
