Macdonald Hotels & Resorts Partners With MICROS-Fidelio UK Ltd. to Provide Ground-Breaking Single Inventory Across Global Distribution Services

MICROS-Fidelio UK Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of MICROS Systems, Inc., and a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality and retail industries, has partnered with Macdonald Hotels & Resorts to implement the MICROS OPERA Enterprise Solution including OPERA Reservation System (ORS), OPERA Customer Information System (OCIS), OPERA Web Services (OWS) and myfidelio.net.

This unique solution provides real-time last room availability representation for the chain's 65-property estate, seamlessly distributed both nationally and globally across all channels. 

Macdonald Hotels will benefit from having its OPERA solution hosted at the MICROS-Fidelio data center in Frankfurt, Germany, allowing management a single point of control.  The hosted solution will result in substantial booking cost savings for the hotel chain, the provision of a more resilient system, and the opportunity to generate greater foot-flow into its properties. 

The property management systems, a combination of OPERA PMS and Fidelio V6, are implemented and managed at site level.  As the MICROS solution provides real-time availability communication to the data center using ORS and OWS, reservation and availability information is pushed out to global distribution partners through myfidelio.net using the next generation central connector.

ORS is the industry's first enterprise-wide inventory and reservation management system. ORS is designed for seamless integration with the entire OPERA suite of products and offers central reservations agents and global sales staff the tools to maximize bookings and increase revenue.

OCIS will gather and manage Macdonald's guest, travel agent, source, group and company profile data in a central database that can be shared by multiple properties. OCIS collects demographic information (mail and e-mail addresses, phone numbers, etc.), complete stay details, production data and revenue statistics, allowing the chain to produce more targeted customer relationship campaigns.

OWS will provide a secure and streamlined path for travel agents, corporate accounts and individuals to make, change and pay for reservations at any Macdonald property, online. Guests can select room amenities, confirm loyalty points, define preferences and more, all through a simple Web interface designed to reflect the Macdonald Hotels brand.

myfidelio.net is an enterprise solution that will provide central reservation management services to Macdonald Hotels. This advanced e-commerce solution will connect individual sites, the data center, travel suppliers and portals allowing them to conduct travel related e-commerce.

At the core of this solution are OPERA PMS and Fidelio V6, which both provide the tools Macdonald Hotels' staff needs for doing their day-to-day jobs -- handling reservations, checking guests in and out, assigning rooms and managing room inventory, and handling accounting and billing.
