Elite Meetings International to Welcome Independent Planners at its First Elite Meetings Alliance (EMA) for the Gold Collection, January 23-25, 2011

For the first time ever, a select group of independent meeting planners will join corporate and association planners, at Elite Meetings International’s (EMI) first Elite Meetings Alliance (EMA) for the Gold Collection.

The Gold Collection represents upscale hotels to serve meeting professionals who seek the highest quality meeting and incentive offerings in North America. The EMA is a unique three-day event that brings together prequalified meeting professionals with leaders in the luxury hotel industry.
 
Taking place at Paradise Point Resort & Spa in San Diego, January 23-25, 2011, the EMA includes one-on-one meetings, continuing education sessions for CMP credit, top industry speakers, and unique networking events. 

“We are excited to announce that for the first time, a prequalified group of independent meeting planners will join their peers and Elite Hotels at an Elite Meetings Alliance - also our first ever EMA for the Gold Collection,” said Kelly Foy, chief executive officer of Elite Meetings. “Combined with an A-List of industry speakers and substantive education sessions, the 2011 Gold EMA promises to set a new standard of excellence for EMA events, and we are delighted that the roster of attendees will be more diverse and broad reaching than ever before.”
 
More than 100 top meeting professionals and Gold Collection hotel representatives are expected to attend the first EMA of 2011. In one-on-one pre-scheduled appointments, they will conduct hundreds of face-to-face meetings to book business and create and reinforce business relationships, using EMI’s FaceTime™ Appointment Scheduler technology.
 
The 2011 Gold EMA will also feature unique education sessions for CMP credit, top industry speakers and unique networking activities.
 
Headlining the speakers at the 2011 Gold EMA, is Joe Terzi, president and CEO of the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau.  As the EMA keynote speaker, Terzi will share insights into the San Diego market and the environment for meetings and incentives nationally. Terzi brings close to 30 years of industry management experience, including senior positions at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, ITT Sheraton Corporation and more.
 
Additional featured speakers include: 
  • Simon T. Bailey – pesident and CEO of Simon T. Bailey Companies, Bailey is an inspirational speaker who was recently named Speaker of the Year by Meeting Professionals International (MPI). He is also the author of several best-selling books and is the founder of The Brilliance Institute, a consulting firm dedicated to building the potential of people. 
  • Midori Connolly – Connolly is CEO and chief AVGirl at Pulse Staging and Events, best known for producing the industry’s first set of guidelines for sustainable audiovisual staging. She is an industry expert on green AV for live events, is a director on the Green Meetings Industry Council, and has served clients such as PCMA and BMW. 
  • Mark Ley – Ley is the managing director of ThinkCore Media, a digital marketing company that helps business owners create and engage communities and fans for increased revenue. He has designed successful programs for clients ranging from top luxury hotels to members of the music management industry. 
  • Daren Martin – Martin is a culture architect and change leader who founded several companies that have positively impacted CEOs and companies including Adobe, Lockheed Martin, and Southwest Airlines. With a PhD in psychology, he is both an inspirational speaker and a hands-on guide to building better businesses and more innovative enterprises.
