The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International – Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter (HSMAI-DFW) attended the 2011 HSMAI Leadership Conference February 7, 2011 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, hosted at the PGA National Resort & Spa.

This year’s theme “a rising tide lifts all boats” and HSMAI is sailing to new horizons for the 2011 year with the launch of a new HSMAI logo and a renewed focus on rebuilding the hotel membership of the association.
Attendees of the 2011 conference receive pertinent information in both association business as well as the state of the tourism and hospitality industry to share with their chapters. Roger Dow, President and CEO, US Travel Association, spoke at this year’s conference about the funding of the Travel Promotion Act and its effect on the tourism industry.  Roger Berry, former CIO Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, also spoke on managing change during each company’s economical struggles.
This year the HSMAI DFW Chapter also brought home two Frank W. Berkman Best of the Best Awards at the annual HSMAI Chapter Awards Gala. This year’s awards were for membership retention and development programs as well as Outstanding New Collegiate Chapter for the new HSMAI-University of North Texas Chapter. “We’re thrilled to have received these two amazing awards,” said Kimberly Hutcherson, the HSMAI-DFW chapter president, “it’s a testament to all of the hard work of our talented leaders and of our amazing membership, both of which are what give this association such a strong presence in the Dallas/Forth Worth area.”
