Last month Qube Hotels, a new independent hotel collection, presented membership plaques to its initial founding members, The Powell Hotel in San Francisco, CA and the Maple Tree Inn in Sunnyvale, CA.

Qube Hotels is a new, independent hotel collection serving business, group and leisure travelers in top destinations around the globe. Qube members are three to five star properties showcasing best-in-class service, quality and style.

“Our overall concept is clean, crisp, quality hotels that provide superior service,” said Mark Lewis-Brown, ideas man at Qube Hotels.  “Independent hotels have some of the best character and appeal because they are all so unique. Our job with Qube Hotels is to preserve those qualities while providing confidence to consumers and the travel industry that they can expect a specific level of service and quality.”

Matthew Kim, VP of sales and marketing at Miramar Hospitality, the management company for both The Powell Hotel and the Maple Tree Inn, accepted the Qube Hotels plaques at a presentation last month along with the executive staff at each property. “We feel strongly that our hotels will benefit from their Qube Hotels membership. Additional marketing exposure along with a way for us to reward our frequent guests through the Q Club will be a huge asset to us in 2011.”

Qube Hotels member benefits include a listing on the consumer website, a 24/7 reservation call center, a website booking engine and GDS/IDS connectivity with PMS integration, premium revenue management, Q Club – the Qube Hotels rewards program, social media support and advanced sales initiatives with access to an extensive sales database and representation at trade shows and sales trips.

“We’ve really tried to cover all aspects of hotel sales and marketing that an independent might miss without a traditional brand affiliation,” said Phoenix Smith, marketing rockstar at Qube Hotels. “We’re also aiming to make things fun and fresh for our hotels by providing creative branding, guest-centric and travel industry recognition programs, and a rewarding frequent stay program.”

One of the most valuable assets of the brand’s membership is access to over 2,500 corporate, group and leisure account profiles in the Qube Hotels online sales database. Membership also includes the opportunity for participation in annual sales trips, road shows and trade shows, organized by the Qube Hotels international sales team.

“Even as an independent hotel, you really need an affiliation,” said Jane Lee, director of sales and marketing for The Powell Hotel. “We were lacking an affiliation, and Qube Hotels provides both a quality brand image and a fantastic sales program.”

While Qube Hotels hasn’t publicly launched, it plans to have 20 hotel members by the end of this year. An agreement has already been executed for two more hotels to join the brand this month.
