Hospitality Financial & Technology Professionals (HFTP) announced that Jonathan Tisch, Chairman and CEO of Loews Hotels, will give the Opening Session Presentation at the 35th Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC) on June 26, 2007 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

“We are excited that Jonathan Tisch is scheduled to speak at HITEC this year,” said Frank Wolfe, CAE, HFTP CEO and executive vice president.  “His knowledge and insight into the hospitality industry will be a great asset to those that attend HITEC.”

Tisch will discuss topics from his two books, “The Power of We: Succeeding Through Partnerships” and his just released, “Chocolates on the Pillow Aren’t Enough: Rethinking the Customer Experience.” He will cover how to achieve lasting success through creative partnerships among people, organizations and communities. In addition, Tisch will distill some of the most important customer relation lessons he’s learned during his successful career in the hospitality industry - discussing why these lessons have become increasingly important for today’s leaders.

All attendees at the Opening General Session will receive a complimentary copy of Tisch’s recently released book, “Chocolates on the Pillow Aren’t Enough: Rethinking the Customer Experience.”

Since taking the helm of Loews Hotels in 1989, Jonathan Tisch has guided the company through a major expansion, which has resulted in Loews as a leading luxury hotel chain.  Tisch’s success at Loews can be attributed to his widely acclaimed leadership philosophy that places importance on partnership on all levels within the company.

Tisch’s interest in the connection of upper management and entry-level employees lead him to star in the premier episode of TLC’s Now Who’s Boss?  His experience on the show, which explored what happens when a CEO is put back in the frontline of the company, prompted Tisch to require all upper-level executives to spend one day a year in an entry-level position at one of the hotels.

Truly an industry leader, Tisch serves as chairman of several lodging and travel-related events and groups, including the Travel Business Roundtable, the Annual New York University International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference, NYC & Company and “New York Rising”. He is former chairman of the AH&LA, and has been named one of the top ten most influential business leaders by Crain’s New York Business. He serves as a member of the United States Department of Commerce U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board and hosts the television series, Open Exchange: Beyond the Boardroom, where he interviews some of the nation’s leading CEOs in an intimate setting.

In 2006, Tisch, a Trustee of Tufts University and 1976 graduate, donated $40 million to endow the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service at Tufts University.  The gift, which is believed to be the largest ever made by an individual donor to a university civic engagement program, encourages student to be active, engaged leaders in their local and global communities.
