Canada's Banff Centre Revs up its Meetings Business with Passkey's GroupMAX Booking Technology

Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, features iconic mountain landscapes, year-round alpine adventure and sophisticated visitor services.

Since 1952, The Banff Centre has been welcoming conference delegates from around the globe to meet and learn within a specialized environment that fosters creativity. The Banff Centre's 43-acre property features more than 60 full-service meeting facilities and over 400 spectacular rooms and suites that can host groups from five to 1,000 people.

With the exponential growth of conference events at the Centre, and with event organizers increasingly expecting an online booking experience, the Centre has elected to deploy Passkey's GroupMAX online booking technology to streamline the event housing process for its valued meeting planners and guests.

With GroupMAX, each event at The Banff Centre will have its own branded Web and mobile booking website where guests can make and manage their hotel bookings from the Web, helping shift a majority of group reservations online from a traditionally phone-based process.

Perhaps more importantly, meeting planners will now have the ability to track their own events online using GroupMAX's live dashboards, which provide instant views into an event's critical information such as reservations, block pick-up, booking pace and more, in a highly visual and intuitive environment. In addition, meeting planners will now be able to manage their rooming lists online in a PCI-secure space, helping streamline a process often encumbered with inefficiency, inaccuracy and risk.

In addition to the system's booking and tracking tools, The Banff Centre will be able to leverage GroupMAX's built-in email marketing toolset to send highly professional and targeted email messages to group guests, further enhancing the event experience while providing an opportunity to capture meaningful incremental revenue from the sale of room upgrades, event vouchers and upcoming activities.

"Many people may not be aware of The Banff Centre's $100 million Revitalization project - within the past five years we have created new dining facilities, built a new meeting and learning building, built a spectacular outdoor performance amphitheatre and have completed numerous guest room upgrades. We view the GroupMAX system implementation as yet another step forward in our Revitalization goal," said Leslie Vanderzwet, general manager of conferences at The Banff Centre. "Our hope is that GroupMAX will streamline the online reservation process, that it will provide our meeting planners with seamless access to their group information and rooming lists and that it will help to enhance the guest experience by providing up-to-date information on services and events available to our guest during their stay at the Centre."
