TravelCom Res-Expo 2007 is coming into the final lap before the grand finale in Las Vegas, April 04-06, at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Hotel.

This year’s theme is “The Customer is the Driver”. By teaming up with Res-Expo, HSMAI, Forrester Research and HEDNA, TravelCom will be presenting a comprehensive collaborative program of keynote speakers, panel discussions, sessions and events, providing attendees with valuable insight into the travel industry’s most successful businesses.

Program highlights include three unmissable panel sessions:
  • Navigating a Customer Driven Marketplace: A panel discussion moderated by Henry Harteveldt, vice president and principal analyst, Forrester Research, Inc. Panelists include seasoned and innovative travel industry marketing executives: Dale Brill, CMO, Visit Florida; Richard Harris, SVP, Travelocity; Tom Rusin, CRO, Affinion Group; Rob Solomon, president and CEO, Sidestep Inc; and Brenda Yester, VP, Carnival Cruise Lines.
  • Social Media and Travel: A presentation and panel session with TIA's Dr. Suzanne Cook, a leading authority on travel industry trends. Based on a special report from TIA, this session will provide definitions for the many forms of social media and social networking that are evolving, and will raise issues that emerge when travel suppliers and destinations attempt to leverage this emerging wave of consumer dialogue. Panelists will relate best practices for managing user-generated content and will discuss case studies for integration strategies. Panelists include: Jim Kovarik, GM and director, AOL Travel; Jasper Malcomson, director, Yahoo! Travel; Christine Petersen, vice president, TripAdvisor LLC; and Jens Thraenhart, executive director, Canadian Tourism Commission.
  • The New Distribution Landscape, Fragmentation and the Switch to Service: A discussion with several industry leaders focused on the new drivers of travel distribution. Following this last round of GDS contracting and the ostensible end to the traditional economic model, travel distribution is on its head. Non-traditional content, multiple sources of supply, and distribution as a value-based service not a commoditized connection, are the new drivers of travel distribution that will be discussed. Mike Pusateri, president and CEO, Vantage Stragety Consulting leads the following panelists: Ellen Lee, co-founder and vice president, G2Switchworks.com; Howard Lefkowitz, president and CEO, Vegas.com; Jim Nation, director of business development, Americas, Datalex (USA) Inc.; Scott Slater, director – agency, leisure and segmented sales, Delta Air Lines Inc.; and Tom O'Toole, SVP strategy and systems, Global Hyatt Corporation.
