Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels & Resorts (“Starwood”), a leader in the hospitality and meetings industry, today announce a new initiative that will make booking an event with Starwood even more convenient for MICE planners, even as it gears up to enlarge its footprint in Asia-Pacific with 50 hotel openings this year.

Starwood has launched StarwoodMeetings.com – a new simple, engaging and intuitive website that understands meeting planners and delivers relevant and comprehensive content for all phases of the meeting planning process. Developed together with Starwood’s Asia-Pacific MICE Advisory Board – a group comprising influential industry leaders who provide Starwood with guidance and insight into the important MICE segment – the website will be vibrant, user-friendly, engaging, intuitive to navigate, while delivering relevant and complete content for all phases of the meeting planning process, thereby increasing the ease of doing business with Starwood.

StarwoodMeetings.com makes it easy to research meetings at more than 1,000 Starwood properties worldwide and provides rich property content and key information on Starwood’s brands and growing global footprint. Meeting planners now have full property details complete with hotel features, integrated maps with points of interest, photos and floor plans, on-site meeting services, a Compare View tool to compare hotels, special offers, and meeting management tools on an easy to navigate site   The new site also includes information on signature services including Starwood Preferred Planner, Starwood Convention Collection, On-Site Specialty Events, and Starwood’s sustainability and social responsibility initiatives.

“StarwoodMeetings.com was designed to increase the ease of doing business with Starwood,” said Christie Hicks, Senior Vice President, Starwood Sales Organization. “We listened to feedback from our customers and developed a tool which gives them easy access to information they need throughout the planning cycle.  We look forward to hearing our customer’s feedback as we continue to evolve the site to meet the needs of meeting planners around the world.”

In addition to this new initiative are existing programmes including the Starwood Preferred Planner, which allows meeting planners to accumulate redeemable Starpoints whenever they book with Starwood. There are also 25 global Starwood Sales Organisations around the world, which makes Starwood very accessible to planners.

Vice President of Sales, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific, Alison Taylor, said, “Our goal is to be the easiest hotel company to do business with in terms of flexibility, reliability, responsiveness and proactiveness. We understand that meeting and incentive planners have a lot on their plates, especially when they have to organise big and complicated events.  Starwood offers them some of the best and most integrated tools and systems that make their planning of conferences and events much easier.  This means that when they book with us, at least one part of their job is stress-free! ”

Meanwhile, Starwood is scheduled to open 50 new hotels in 2012, including The Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai Central in September 2012. Boasting 3,863 well-appointed rooms and suites, one grand ballroom, six junior ballrooms with access to a further three junior ballrooms totalling 20,000m2 of meeting space, it will be the largest hotel in Starwood’s portfolio.  Other hotels scheduled to open this year include Lilianfels, A Luxury Collection Resort, Blue Mountains; Echoes, A Luxury Collection Resort, Blue Mountains; as well as W hotels in Sentosa Cove in Singapore, Bangkok and Guangzhou.

Taylor said, “Asia-Pacific continues to be one of the fastest growing divisions in Starwood and with 50 hotel openings this year, we now offer meeting planners even more options in accommodation and meeting venues. With China playing outsized roles in global travel, Starwood has already taken initiatives to localise our approach with the pioneer of Starwood Personalized Travel – a program designed to serve the unique preferences of Chinese travelers. This year, we are taking one step further with the global rollout of the program so not only are customers able to enjoy our portfolio of high-calibre hotels, they will also feel at home wherever they are.”
