The Moran & Bewley’s Hotel Group Invests in Technology Upgrade with MICROS

MICROS Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:MCRS), a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality and retail industries, is pleased to announce that the Moran & Bewley’s Hotel Group has invested in MICROS cloud-based technology to help deliver a consistent experience to customers and staff throughout its 10 hotels in Ireland and the United Kingdom.

The Moran & Bewley’s Hotel Group is an Irish owned group of properties operated by Limerick businessman Tom Moran and his family. There are currently ten hotels in its portfolio, located across Ireland and the UK, including the four Moran Hotels and six Bewley’s Hotels which the Moran Group purchased in 2008.

MICROS OPERA, the world’s most popular property management system (PMS), is already used throughout the Moran hotels and will now replace the legacy system in all Bewley’s Hotels. MICROS OPERA will manage room availability and ensure that the check-in/check-out experience is consistent, fast, and hassle-free for all guests of Moran & Bewley’s Hotels. MICROS OPERA also supports sales & catering and website integration across the Moran & Bewley’s properties, ensuring efficient management of functions and sales in all of its establishments.

The property management system within the existing Moran Hotels was also upgraded and migrated, providing greater resiliency, reliability and performance across the entire business. To ensure quality of service in the restaurants and bars within each hotel, the next-generation MICROS Simphony point-of-service system was installed in all ten sites.

The Moran & Bewley’s Hotel Group opted for a fully hosted solution, with both OPERA and Simphony being delivered from MICROS’ industry-leading European data center. This ensures that all of the advantages of a cloud-based solution are realized while it minimizing the need for investment in technology infrastructure and maintenance, and ensuring reliability and consistently high performance.

The project was completed within seven months, allowing The Moran & Bewley’s Hotel Group to rapidly achieve their ambitions and have all properties on the same technology platform for maximum consistency.
