Sceptre Hospitality Resources, a leading revenue generation and eCommerce firm specializing in the hospitality industry, announced that the company has successfully upgraded 620 hotels to its Windsurfer central reservations system, (CRS), an industry-leading platform for non-branded hotels, in eight weeks.

“I’m happy to report that the new converts to Windsurfer already see that expertise translate to improved top line revenues.”

The system upgrade was initiated in January and included more than 75 hours of training, was made at no cost to Sceptre client hotels. The program was designed to significantly improve top-line revenues.

“It was important that our migration plans incorporated the replication of all of their existing data, along with training and familiarization with Windsurfer,” said Estella Hale, Windsurfer’s project manager. “Because Windsurfer is so flexible, and the Sceptre team understands each hotel’s individual revenue strategies, we were able to do most of the work behind the scenes and not burden the hotels with data uploads. We communicated more than once a week throughout the process, including personal contact with each hotel’s account services manager, to ensure a smooth transition. Fortunately, the Windsurfer CRS is very intuitive and user friendly, and we were able to ensure that there were no snags with the hotels’ legacy system, so the properties were ready to sail with Windsurfer from day one.”

Currently, more than 4,200 hotels worldwide operate on the Windsurfer CRS.

According to Hale, Windsurfer engineers created the central reservation system using standard design conventions to ensure ease of use for the end-user.

“Other systems claim to be user-friendly, or ‘intuitive,’ but in the case of Windsurfer, adoption is easy because users follow the same patterns for everything they do,” Hale said. “In fact, the only issue we didn’t foresee is that some clients skipped training because they found Windsurfer to be so easy to use in previews that they determined they didn’t need to take any extra training.”

“The Sceptre team made the upgrade from our old system to Windsurfer an easy process,” said Matt Fenn general manager of Casa Moderna Miami. “The ease of operation guarantees an immediate bottom line impact on our operation, and from a top-line perspective the opportunities are almost endless.”

Windsurfer was developed by Whiteboard Labs to bridge the growing gap between what hoteliers need to drive booking revenue and what customers have come to expect from technology. The platform offers functionalities that hoteliers rely upon and will need in the future in a more user-friendly format for guests and hotels alike. Windsurfer gives hotels greater web interface capabilities, including mobile apps and branding features currently unavailable on legacy systems. In addition, the software can be customized for hotel portfolios of any size.

“Sceptre’s clients all have the world’s most innovative hotel technology developers and operations experts working on their team,” said Bill Linehan Sceptre chief operating and marketing officer. “I’m happy to report that the new converts to Windsurfer already see that expertise translate to improved top line revenues.”
