Upgrades to ICSS atrium™ Property Management System Drive First Year Sales

  • 06.13.07
Longtime customer of ICSS, The Portlander Inn, a travel center/mall destination property, upgraded to a customized atrium™ Property Management System.

Designed by ICSS, this new system functions as a hotel reservations system as well as a wide-ranging point of sales platform for this 100-room Portland, Ore. hotel, restaurant, lounge, deli, convenience store, theater and guest laundry.

One year after atrium’s™ launch in June 2006, ICSS is experiencing steady new business in upgrades from ICSS’ previous property management system, according to Gita Patel, director of sales and marketing.  atrium’s™ flexibility to fit a large destination property with more than 90 percent occupancy year round such as, The Portlander Inn, to a small 16-room boutique inn, as The Swag County Inn, is a key reason for stable sales of  atrium™, says Ms. Patel.

atrium™ will be demonstrated at HITEC 2007, June 26-28, at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Fla., Booth 1080 .

The Portlander Inn had explored new products last year prior upgrading to atrium™, according to Jami Seale, hotel manager.  Their decision to upgrade was based on ICSS’ personalized and flexible system, with modules for groups, packages, corporate billing, travel agents and Internet reservations.  ICSS’ strong technical support and the ability to transfer all their data, a feature that other products could not provide, secured the deal.

“As a travel center, we are different from other properties in that we have unique system challenges and tweaks needed in our PM system that ICSS has been able to accommodate with atrium™,” said Ms. Seale.

For the Union Bluff Hotel in York Beach, Maine, where each of the 62 rooms is different, a customized atrium™ upgrade provided the system flexibility to database every room type with guest history and profiles to easily match them up.  The hotel’s owner, Mary-Janet Merritt, cites extensive search capability, ability to turn more features on and off, Internet reservations, e-mail blasts and mail merges, and more importantly, extensive sales history and lead origination features as more key reasons for the hotel’s upgrade to atrium™.

At 16-room Swag Country Inn, Waynesville, N.C., atrium™ provides a more user-friendly system that allows fluid navigation between screens, daily reports on room revenue and gift shop sales, and most of all, more face-to-face time gained to interact with guests instead of  record-keeping, according to Assistant Innkeeper Mindy Wood.  “We at The Swag believe that atrium™ is an exceptional system and we are so looking forward to working with it and becoming more and more familiar with it,” said Wood.

The atrium™ Property Management System, built by ICSS, is designed and owned by Inn-Client Server Systems (ICSS) , one of the only software companies to beta test its products in hotels that it owns and operates. atrium™, the most user intuitive PMS, according to ICSS, is developed with workflow processes that are based on real-life operations and are inclusive of many intangibles that are important to the guest, hotel management and system users.

atrium™ fundamentally changes the basic processes by which hoteliers manage their properties and interact with their guests.  atrium™ empowers hoteliers by offering more configurable parameters and business rules than other leading systems.  It enables increased control of the sales process, using enforced rate management, seasonal minimums, rate code availability and yield levels, dramatically increasing revenue per available room.

atrium™, built by ICSS, a company with over 25 years of hospitality experience, also provides these feature-rich fully integrated modules: groups, city ledger, house ledger, travel agents, vacation ownership, credit card processing, commission-free Internet reservations and GDS connectivity.
