“How very softly you tiptoed into our world, almost silently, only a moment you stayed.  But what an imprint your footsteps have left upon our hearts.” – Dorothy Ferguson

Morris E. Lasky
December 25, 1935 – March 24, 2015

After a battle with pancreatic cancer, Morris E. Lasky passed away on March 24. Part of the hospitality industry for more than 50 years, Lasky was chief executive officer and founder of the Lodging Unlimited Group (LUI Group) and Lodging Opportunities Group.

Prior to forming Lodging Unlimited in 1970, Lasky served as senior vice president of American Motor Inns from 1962-1970. However, he began his career in the hospitality industry in 1956 as a general manager with Motel Enterprises, Inc., and quickly rose in the ranks and was appointed vice president of operations for the chain at the age of 23.

Lasky was co-chair, founder and producer of The Hotel Investment Networking Conference (THINC) in 2014 and the International Hotel Conference (IHC) in Monte Carlo and Rome from 2003 to 2010. He served as a member of the Waldorf Astoria Distinguished Alumni Association, was a member of the advisory board for DePaul University’s School of Hospitality Leadership, and as such a respected expert, was a guest lecturer throughout the industry. Lasky also served as chairman and co-founder of the Lodging Conference, now in its 21st year.
