The Digital Signage Federation® (DSF), an independent not-for-profit trade organization serving the digital signage industry, invites DSF members and non-members alike to attend its Hangout panel discussion on Wed., June 15 at 2 p.m. EST, on the topic of “Basic Content Do’s & Don’ts for Digital Signage.”

“Having an articulated content strategy is essential for a successful digital signage communications network, which not only provides standards and guidance for those within the organization who will be contributing content, but also helps to ensure continuity in appearance,” said Ryan Cahoy, DSF’s education committee co-chair and managing director at Rise Vision. “However, before developing such a strategy, it is important to agree on the purpose of the communication and define the viewing audiences.”

Hangouts are 45-minute panel discussions using Google’s Hangout platform with a moderator and a panel of three or four industry professionals.

The panel comprised of Digital Signage professionals who are members of the DSF, will include:
  • David Haynes, founding editor, SIXTEEN:NINE
  • Jim Nista, CEO, Insteo
  • Rob Adams, director of product, technical operations and marketing, Omnivex
In addition to discussing how to make your message sufficiently engaging to capture your audience’s attention, the panel will discuss the following:
  • How to determine he number of “zones” that will be necessary.
  • Optimum rotation schedule for content.
  • How much moving content should be displayed at one time.
  • Determining an ideal font size.
  • Optimum timing (in seconds) to display full video.
  • When to incorporate audio.
  • When to incorporate third-party content (i.e., news, weather, sports).

More information on the June 15 Hangout event or other DSF events can be found on the DSF website. Both DSF members and non-members may join these, or any of the DSF’s scheduled Hangout conversations for free – but registration is required and can be accessed on the “DSF Event Web Page” of the DSF website which can be accessed by clicking here.
