Hospitality eResources has announced that it has officially joined the growing effort among organizations, corporations, educational institutions, government entities, municipalities and individuals to raise awareness of privacy and data security by signing on to Data Privacy Day 2016.

Data Privacy Day (DPD) which takes place annually on Jan. 28 is an international event held to create awareness about the importance of privacy and protecting personal information. As “Data Privacy Day Champions," HeR works toward the common goal of improving consumer and business consciousness while encouraging and empowering all users of the web to be #PrivacyAware.

In concert with Data Privacy Day 2016, HeR Consulting will host two of its training events “Protecting Guest and Employee Data in Hotels.” The first of the two will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 26 at the Hyatt Perimeter Villa Christina in Atlanta, Ga.; the second in Miami, Fla. on Jan. 28, 2016.  “Protecting Guest and Employee Data in Hotels” has become a hit, featuring a variety of panels with highly regarded speakers on cybersecurity and data privacy who are passionate about protecting personally identifiable information (PII). With laser focus on the topic as related to both guest and employee information in the hospitality space, these events are touching on one of the hottest topics for 2016. The event was created to meet demand of local hotel managers and executives who are keen to stay ahead of the criminals but can’t get away for too long. The first bootcamp launched to fantastic reviews in New York City during December 2015.

Adding to an already robust portfolio of eLearning and custom in-person training options available via HeR, this full day of instruction features among other presenters, several of the top forensic experts from Verizon Enterprise Solutions on privacy, data breach preparation and PCI Compliance. The day-long event will take place in several other cities in North America this year as well, including Orlando, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Washington D.C. Additional dates and venues will be announced soon.

“HeR has been very successful in leading an industry-wide initiative to support protecting guest data and has over the past several years become one of the best go-to resources for insight and training on guest and employee data privacy,” said Rich Siegel, publisher of Hospitality Upgrade magazine. “We are enthusiastic about their continued focus on what we think is the next big thing in hospitality and look forward to being associated with this series as it rolls out across North America.”

The education series presented by HeR Consulting is pre-approved by Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) for CHAE/CHTP certified attendees wishing to earn 9.1 continuing educational credits toward renewal requirements.
