JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel Upgrades to Contactless Mobile Access and Enhanced Guest Security With ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions

ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions with its commitment to staying ahead of the latest security technology trends, has announced the successful upgrade of its VingCard Classic locks at the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel to now feature both Mobile Access and advanced RFID security capabilities. 

A 5-star property situated in the heart of Romania’s capital, JW Marriott Grand Hotel Bucharest’s decision to upgrade its locks to VingCard Classic RFID + BLE ensures that its guests can minimize germ risks while providing peace of mind and maximized convenience.  

Previously equipped with magstripe-based VingCard locks, property leadership sought to update its security access abilities in order to meet new hotel environment expectations and to comply with Marriott’s global initiative to provide guests with contactless-compatible services. With its VingCard locks, upgrading to RFID and Mobile Access functionality is a straightforward and swift process that does not require the replacing of existing lock components. By using an official ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions upgrade kit, the property can also sidestep any potential lapses in security that come with utilizing an untested third-party integration.  

With the upgrade completed, guests staying at JW Marriott Grand Hotel Bucharest can now use the Marriott BonVoy loyalty program app to circumvent the front desk and instead check-in digitally via personal device. Once checked-in, guests can again avoid close contact or shared surfaces with the receiving of a digital key that grants both immediate and secure access to guestrooms. Guests can even use personal devices for convenient and germ-free to access public hotel areas such as elevators, meeting rooms and the onsite fitness center.

Each RFID keycard that operates with VingCard Classic RFID is equipped with industry-leading data encryption technology that prevents unauthorized keycard cloning risks. As with Mobile Access, guests also only require one key to gain effortless access to guestrooms and other hotel areas.    

Further bolstering JW Marriott Grand Hotel Bucharest’s security and guest convenience capabilities is the implementation of the Visionline access management system. With Visionline, hotel staff can instantly revoke access to any keys suspected of being stolen or used inappropriately. Employees can also receive alerts for real-time security events such as a wandering intruder and can extend guest stays or issue guestroom reassignments without requiring guests to make a front desk visit.
