SiteMinder made history earlier this year with the announcement it had been appointed Airbnb’s first global hotel technology partner. Under the partnership, traditional hospitality businesses that use SiteMinder and meet Airbnb’s hospitality standards can now quickly and seamlessly list rooms on the platform.

The technology developed jointly by the two companies has made it possible for hotels to connect booking information to their existing management system in real time.

The announcement dropped only weeks before SiteMinder landed its 30,000th customer in Italy’s River Palace Hotel, as a show of the worldwide demand for integrated hotel guest acquisition technology. SiteMinder’s 30,000th customer milestone capped a year which saw the company rank among The Silicon Review’s list of the 50 Best Companies to Watch, and secure deals with two of Italy’s and Portugal’s largest hotel groups, Atahotels and Pestana Hotel Group.

“Hoteliers today are faced with more competition and greater demands from consumers than ever before. Thanks to our solutions, accommodation providers the world over can manage their properties more efficiently and offer guests the more personalized hospitality they excel at,” said Mike Ford, founder and managing director at SiteMinder.

Another key highlight from SiteMinder has been its signing of one of Peru’s most influential hotel chains, Casa Andina, which grew online bookings 25 percent only months after going live with SiteMinder’s distribution technology. The hotel chain today has 29 hotels spread over 18 different destinations throughout Peru, and recently announced plans to expand to 22 destinations by the end of 2020 with 38 hotels designed for guest comfort.

Juan Stoessel, CEO of Casa Andina, said, “As part of our commitment to reach guests in all corners of the world, we know we need technology and we have made the decision to use SiteMinder’s for its simplicity, practicality, efficiency and ability to work in real time. SiteMinder’s hotel solutions have made it easier for our hotel business to manage all reservations, the rooms of each of our properties, and the service we offer to our guests. Without a doubt, SiteMinder is a partner that
has exceeded our expectations.”
AI: The Key to Guest Personalization?
In February, SiteMinder’s groundbreaking new study with IDeaS Revenue Solutions found that while hoteliers fear a future where their properties are run by robots, they believe artificial intelligence (AI) may be the key to delivering a highly personalized guest experience. This finding was brought to light at a thought leader breakfast held during World Travel Market London in November, and during a December webinar, where leading hoteliers conceded that although robots could never replace genuine hospitality, they can decipher big data to learn about guests faster than humans.
The unexpected challenge found was that many hoteliers continued to overlook the fundamental importance of integrating their systems to gain the insight they needed into their guest data.

Ruairi Conroy, managing director – EMEA at SiteMinder, said, “Hotels have a wealth of guest intelligence at their disposal. They have the opportunity to understand and analyze every point of the guest experience – and to make more innovative, more informed decisions – but they need information to flow seamlessly through their systems in order to make it work.”
