Introducing the Hotel App Store
In November 2019, SiteMinder proudly launched the Hotel App Store, the first marketplace that allows hotels of all sizes to easily discover, choose and connect applications to its business systems for greater guest experiences and revenue. The offering represents a significant step forward for hotels that have been challenged with changing guest behavior but have lacked access to technology that keeps them ahead of those trends.

Until Hotel App Store’s release, marketplaces had been closed environments for hotels, accessible only by using a marketplace provider’s designated property management system (PMS). SiteMinder’s Hotel App Store opened up this access to all hotels, by allowing them to connect to more than 100 applications — including revenue management and upselling, guest messaging, guest review management, room controls, airport transfers and keyless entry — through a single interface and from a selection of more than 80 PMSs or SiteMinder’s channel manager.

Major Wins
Across Europe, the past quarter also saw NEHÔ Group and CPI Hotels appoint SiteMinder as their technology partner of choice to help drive greater booking numbers to their properties.

The two wins were part of a record-breaking year for SiteMinder, which rounded out 2019 having processed in excess of 105 million bookings worth over US$35.2 billion for hotels. The milestone marked the first time a cloud-based hotel distribution platform had processed more than 100 million hotel bookings within a 12-month period.

Now eyeing off further international expansion, SiteMinder has started the year by announcing the completion of a funding round that has raised its business valuation to approximately US$750 million (or AU$1.1 billion, making it a unicorn in its home market of Australia). The raise was led by equity funds managed by BlackRock and also included AustralianSuper; Ellerston, through the Ellerston JAADE Private Assets Fund; and the Pendal Group.

The additional capital will be used to fuel SiteMinder’s growth and innovation, namely through accelerated go-to-market strategies and increased investments in research and development. The company will further its international expansion and continue growing its staff of over 900, who are located in six offices spanning Sydney, Bangkok, Dallas, Galway, London and Manila.
