Reliable KABA Saflok and ILCO RFID Lock Systems Add Security for Guests and Conferences –
Hilton DFW Lakes Executive CC Upgrades to Saflok RFID Locks

KABA, the provider of Saflok and ILCO electronic locks, implemented its Saflok™ Quantum™ MT™ RFID door locking system at the Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center.  The property installed the locks on all 393 guestrooms and on access doors for its 40,000 square feet of conference space.

Saflok RFID Flexibility Enables Tight Customized Security for Meeting Rooms
“We upgraded to Saflok’s MT RFID locks for guest doors, meeting rooms and other function spaces because RFID is extremely reliable and meets the security requirements many of our groups request,” said Kevin Buck, assistant general manager for Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center.  “Meeting attendees – particularly in high-tech industry groups – bring laptops and other valuable technology into their conference space.  We selected Saflok RFID because its flexibility allows us to code off specific rooms for tighter customized security.  In some cases, only the group leader and hotel security can unlock the groups meeting room doors.  Saflok RFID has the flexibility to adapt our property to the security needs of each gathering.”

Historic Hotel Harrington Selects ILCO 790 RFID Locks
Hotel Harrington, built 97 years ago, installed the ILCO 790 RFID lock system for its 300 guestroom doors. The retrofit to the historic property went smoothly.  Harrington GM Ann Terry said, “Many of our doors are quite old, but KABA’s team was experienced at fitting the new ILCO RFID hardware to the existing doors. Our guests return keys as they check out and the system is very cost effective.”

Hyatt Regency Montreal Installs Saflok RFID
KABA Hospitality also installed the Saflok RT™ networked door locking system at the Hyatt Regency Montreal.  The Saflok Messenger™ wireless communication system allows Web-based monitoring of RT electronic door locks and keys for Hyatt Regency Montreal’s 605 guestrooms, as well as 200 back-of-the-house doors to mechanical areas, service areas and storerooms for greater security.

“We wanted the most reliable door locking solution and the latest technology to maximize guest security,” said Sergio Santori, Hyatt Regency Montreal’s director of engineering.  “The RFID keys work every time. The Saflok Messenger system is like a GPS for keys.  It literally turns our RT door locking system into a bi-directional communications network that provides real-time security benefits.”

Each door lock uses Messenger software via a wireless network to update its status.  Property security staff can track when each room has been accessed, by whom, and if doors are ajar.  The Messenger system also tracks keys, displaying where each has been used without interrogating individual door locks.

Increased Security Also Contributes to Reduced Operational Budgets
The Saflok Messenger lock system also signals when individual batteries are low, allowing Hyatt Regency Montreal’s engineers to replace them on an as-needed basis.  “The cost savings on the manpower and batteries for our 805 door locks is an instant operational savings, and it will contribute to the payback for the new RFID system,” said Santori.  “In the past, we had to change all door batteries at once, and many of the batteries may not have needed replacement.”
