Payment services and gateway provider Shift4 Corporation announced the PCI validation of their advanced point-to-point encryption solution, True P2PE.

Merchants using True P2PE with PCI PIN Transaction Security (PTS) approved devices can now significantly reduce the scope and time of required PCI DSS assessments through the use of the Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) P2PE “short form.”
Shift4’s nine patents in payment data security include unique aspects of the point-to-point encryption process, offering both merchants and consumers a level of card data security unavailable anywhere else.
“Over the past 10 years, our True P2PE solution has been vetted by PCI Qualified Security Assessors and proven to keep sensitive card data from entering the merchant’s payment processing environment as well as that of their POS/PMS systems,” said J.D. Oder II, CTO and co-founder, Shift4. “Our incredible team worked closely with the industry’s top QSAs to preserve our own high standards for speed, security and reliability while meeting the PCI SSC’s validation requirements. We’re proud to offer the benefits that a PCI-validated P2PE solution brings to our merchants, their customers and our partners.”
Shift4’s True P2PE encrypts consumers’ card data from the moment a card is inserted, swiped, manually keyed or tapped (as with mobile wallets like Apple Pay) at a secure payment device. Shift4 then applies a second layer of encryption via their proprietary Derived Unique Key Per Transaction with Moving Target Encryption methodology. Together with the unrivaled feature set of Shift4’s TrueTokenization, merchants using True P2PE can ensure that sensitive card data is not stored, processed or transmitted, saving significant financial and resource investments in PCI DSS assessments while optimizing merchants’ business operations and providing enhanced protection against data breaches.
